St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Wilson NY
is seeking a faithful, relatable, and community-minded part-time Pastor to lead our congregation. The primary focus of this role is to anchor our community in God’s Word through uplifting worship and to walk alongside our members during life’s most significant milestones.
This is a .4-.5 FTE (approximately 15-20 hours per week) position, offering a wonderful opportunity ideal for a pastor seeking a flexible schedule, a bi-vocational minister, or a retired pastor wishing to remain active in ministry. Please see below regarding job qualifications and responsibilities.

Ordained minister in good standing with the LCMC, preferably with a Master of Divinity degree or equivalent.
Committed to Lutheran theology, grace-centered preaching, and the confessions of the church
Communicates and exemplifies a faith-filled life
Exhibits strong interpersonal skills, is a compassionate listener with high emotional intelligence and genuine love for people.
Self-motivated and able to manage hours effectively within a part-time framework.
Pastoral Responsibilities
Pastoral Responsibilities
Worship Leadership & Preaching (60%)
Word & Sacrament: Prepare and deliver scripture-based, relevant sermons that connect Lutheran theology with daily life.
Worship Planning: Collaborate with the music director/musicians and worship committee to plan and lead weekly Sunday services, as well as special seasonal services (e.g., Advent, Lent, Holy Week, Christmas).
Sacramental Ministry: Administer the Sacraments of Holy Baptism and Holy Communion in accordance with Lutheran theology.
Pastoral Acts & Visitation (30%)
Life Transitions: Officiate and provide pastoral care for all of life's Christian events from Holy Baptisms, Confirmation classes, and Weddings, to Funerals/Memorial services for congregants and their families.
Crisis & Comfort: Provide focused pastoral care, prayer, and visitation for the sick, homebound, or those experiencing acute crisis (hospital visits, phone check-ins).
Administration & Community Presence (10%)
Collaboration: Maintain regular communication with St. Paul's Church Council, addressing congregational concerns as needed.
Connection: Act as a warm, welcoming presence to visitors and seekers within the community.

Salary: Commensurate with experience (scaled to part-time).
Continuing Education: Professional allowance for books, conferences, or spiritual renewal.
Paid Time Off: Pro-rated vacation and continuing education time.
